IFFR 1999: Day 7
IFFR 1999, day 7
Project A, Survival Guide to the IFFR 1999
Review: B Monkey
DIRECTOR: Michael Radford
CAST: Asia Argento, Jared Harris, Rupert Everett, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Tim Woodward, Ian Hart
Some films can seem good, but are actually very bad and this can all be a matter of detail and how the whole project is executed and treated. Bmonkey is such a film and is bad because of several reasons: Why does Beatrice look like a perfectly made up doll with all lipgloss and eyeliner after being asleep for TWO DAYS and being sick? Why do they have to have their foto taken right the moment she wakes up? Why does he hold an icecream when looking at the cliffs of dover, while there's not an icecreamkart in sight? I could go on and on. This bugs me so much that I can't take the film seriously anymore, not that there's any reason, because the dailog is completely demented, the sex scenes are pathetic, aaaaaaaargh please I won't go on. Oh, no, I want to add this: I hope Jonathan Rhys Meyers cheekbones will grow so big that they crack his skull. I'll see you tomorrow .
Review: 303 FEAR/FAITH/REVENGE
DIRECTOR: Somching Srisupap
CAST: Anada Everingham, Artid Ryu, Taya Rogers
Wow, thanks again god of the filmfestival! This is the only non-crime movie in the thai crime series presented it's more like a Thai-'Scream'! And to tell you the truth I like it even better. The story is simple: killer in a boarding school killed of a lot of kids ten years earlier, now the ghost of the killer comes back and sets himself into one of the kids and starts the killingspree again. Great concept, good excuse for lots of dead bodies, loads of blood and gory slashing scenes. Excellent!

CAST: Satisuk Promsiri, Jimtara Sukkapat, Ronnarong Buranat, Martang Jantranee
Oh how I thank thee, god of the filmfestival for bringing us these gems upon us, because without thy we would never be able to see any of this. This wonderful actionpacked thriller is a slow starter but it pays of BIG in the end. Worthy of any Hong Kong or Hollywood action thriller, superb plot, great acting and a lot of suspense to boot. Please give me more, god of the filmfestival, this is what I like!
